Actually there were nineteen people on that plane. None of them survived. The pilot was the wife of the owner of the airline company. She was trying to make a go-around because there was another plane on the airstrip where she was suppose to land. (the plane on the airstrip was being piloted by her brother). One of the engines caught fire and not too far from there the plane crashed after which three explosions were heard. The plane burned out. The remains of the victims were flown back that same afternoon and are being identified by a Dutch team. Amongst the vistims were 2 kids; some workers of a telecom company in suriname and ofcourse the copilot who had just gotten married last december. All in all a tragedy…

Maya, thank you for the additional information. Do you or anyone else knows anthing about the local navigation? The tower should have known about the plane standing on the runway. (I mean I am almost sure it was such a small place, there was no navigation at all)

The airstrip is in suriname does’t have a tower, there are only two towers in suriname, The main one on the international airport and the other one on Zorg & Hoop(which is the local one in the town). Otherwise for the jungle flight you just have to communicate with each other in through your radio.

I am looking for some information of a small plane crash in Vietnam late last week. My friend’s father may have been on the flight. It was from China to Vietnam and had around 30 passengers. I would appreciate any information someone may have.
    Thank you.
